Why RMC Membership Matters: Building Stronger Reliability Through Collaboration

At the University of Tennessee Reliability and Maintainability Center, we believe some of the best improvements happen when industry professionals have the opportunity to learn from one another.

The RMC brings together companies, reliability and maintenance professionals, students, faculty, educators, and industry partners. Our goal is to help organizations improve their reliability and maintenance practices through education, research, collaboration, and the sharing of real-world experience.

Being an RMC member is more than attending meetings or receiving discounts. It means becoming part of a community focused on solving problems, developing employees, sharing knowledge, and improving reliability across the industry.

Learn from Other Industry Professionals

One of the most valuable benefits of RMC membership is the opportunity to learn from other companies facing many of the same challenges.

Our Best Practice Member Meetings give members the opportunity to share case studies, lessons learned, new technologies, management approaches, and examples of what is working within their organizations.

These meetings are focused on practical information that members can take back and apply within their own facilities and teams. Multiple representatives from a member company may attend, making it possible to include employees from different departments and levels of the organization.

Build Valuable Industry Relationships

Reliability and maintenance improvements rarely happen in isolation. They require support from maintenance teams, reliability engineers, operations leaders, managers, educators, technology providers, and other industry partners.

RMC meetings and events give members the opportunity to connect with professionals from a wide range of industries. These conversations often continue after the meeting and can lead to new ideas, resources, partnerships, and professional relationships.

Our members represent manufacturing, energy, utilities, food production, research, education, consulting, technology, and many other areas of industry. That variety brings different experiences and perspectives to the RMC community.

Support Employee Development

RMC members receive discounts on many of our conferences, short courses, executive seminars, and reliability and maintenance training programs.

Members can also receive guidance related to the Reliability and Maintainability Implementation Certification, or RMIC®, and other professional development opportunities.

These programs help companies strengthen their internal knowledge while giving employees tools and information they can use in their day-to-day work.

Connect with Future Engineering Talent

RMC membership also provides eligible companies with the opportunity to participate in the RMC Maintenance and Reliability Intern Program.

The program connects member companies with engineering students who are interested in reliability, maintenance, manufacturing, and related careers. The RMC helps identify students, supports the placement process, and provides training before students begin their summer assignments.

The internship program gives companies additional support for reliability and maintenance projects while introducing students to career opportunities within the industry. It also gives member companies the chance to build relationships with potential future employees.

Access Research, Assessments, and Industry Resources

RMC members may also have access to assessment and benchmarking opportunities that can help identify strengths, gaps, and areas for improvement within their reliability and maintenance programs.

Through the University of Tennessee, the RMC can also help connect companies with research capabilities, faculty expertise, industry resources, and technology assessment opportunities.

Every company has different needs, but our goal is to help members find the information, people, and resources that can support their reliability and maintenance efforts.

Our Members

The RMC would not be what it is today without the support and participation of our members.
